07 Jun STARTUP POISED TO DISRUPT SHORT-TERM HEALTHCARE RECRUITMENT
A new app is giving control back to dental and medical practices by connecting them directly with ancillary workers to fill temporary positions within their support teams.
ANCI enables practices to find, engage and pay short term workers without the need for a traditional recruitment agency.
The app was developed by dentist Derrick Lee in 2016 after collaborating with co-founder and software engineer Poe Chen. Inspired by Derrick’s own experiences in running dental practices, the duo wanted to find an innovative solution to the time, cost and frustration small and medium practices experience trying to find short-term ancillary staff.
“My practice was regularly paying additional fees of up to 45% the cost of ancillary staff wages to recruiters. When you look at something like sick or annual leave cover, where you’re also covering a full-time employees’ entitlements, it’s a lot of money for a small business to pay,” Dr Lee explains.
“I knew there had to be a better way. ANCI aims to be quicker in filling short term positions than via an agency and you can set the hourly rate you want to pay for each job you post. The fees are 15% of what you’re paying the job seeker and you only pay if you successfully fill the position. The app manages time sheets and payments in a fast and user friendly way and you just pay the job cost via your credit card once the engagement is completed. If you and your team can use social media apps, you can use ANCI.”
“Healthcare practices view genuine reviews of job seekers from other practices and comments from other places they’ve worked at via the ANCI platform. You don’t need to spend time doing reference checks, you can instantly see peer reviews in the palm of your hand. ANCI gives you confidence not only in the job seeker’s skills and abilities but also in how they’ll ‘fit’ with the culture and dynamic of your practice,” Dr Lee said.
